Getting Connected
Remote Incident Manager’s first-run experience is designed with speed and simplicity in mind.
Logging into an Account
When you first launch Remote Incident Manager, you will be shown a Welcome screen giving you the opportunity to log into an account.
Please note: The mobile version of Remote Incident Manager strictly serves as a controller. This means that it is exclusively used to connect to remote computers running the desktop client. We therefore recommend creating an account using the desktop client before initiating the login process.
- Press the “Sign in” button to initiate the login process. When asked whether you would like to launch getrim.app in Safari, activate “Continue”.
- Enter your email address.
- Enter the verification code that will be texted to your phone number.
- Once verification is successful, you will be placed in the main screen of the application.
The application is divided into sections based on the two different connection types available to you.
Keyword Session
The Keyword Session portion of the app allows you to initiate a session with a remote computer by way of a keyword. In order to facilitate a keyword session:
- Enter the keyword in the “Keyword” text field.
- Toggle the “Start voice conversation” switch if you wish to have a voice conversation during the session.
- Press the “Connect with keyword” button to begin the connection process. You will be placed in a waiting screen.
- Send the keyword to the person who you wish to connect to.
- Once that person enters the keyword, your phone and their computer will instantly connect.
My Machines
The My machines section lists the machines you have configured for unattended or prompted access. This is the place you would expect to go if, for example, you plan on regularly connecting to your computer at home while out and about. Simply tap on any of the machines in the list, and one of two things will happen:
- In the case of an unattended session, the connection will instantly be established.
- In the case of a prompted session, the person you connect to will receive a prompt asking them if they would like you to connect.
- A Windows user should press Windows+Shift+Y or Windows+Shift+N for yes or no, respectively.
- A macOS user should press Option+Shift+Y or Option+Shift+N for yes or no, respectively.
- If the user agrees to allow the connection, your session will be initiated.
